The UNV Philippines will promote volunteerism this year through a unique idea of presenting a role model as a comic book hero. For this purpose, the UNV Philippines has chosen Efren G. Penaflorida Jr who will be the hero of the comic.

To start the spadework on this project, few UNV Philippines volunteers visited Penaflorida's workplace in Cavite on June 26 along with an artist who will prepare the comic book. The purpose of the visit was to interview Penaflorida and to know about his volunteering history and achievements.

The project is being carried out with an objective to attract youths to volunteering after learning about Penaflorida's volunteering exploits. The UNV Philippines hopes that the comic book would help mobilize and encourage the youths to get involved in volunteerism.

The comic book, which is now being prepared, will be published on the UNV Philippines web site soon after its completion as a source of inspiration for the volunteers.
